Afzal ul Ulama Preliminary

This course provides an overview of the major historical phases of Islam after the Prophet ﷺ and explores the development of Arabic literature from the early Islamic period to the Umayyad era.Learners study the political, cultural, and intellectual contributions of early caliphates along with the evolution of poetry, prose, and literary styles in classical Arabic heritage. This Year-2 course builds directly on foundational knowledge gained in Year 1 and deepens students’ understanding of Islamic civilization and Arabic literary history.

Classical Literature II introduces students to selected chapters from the Qur’an and essential Hadith texts, helping learners deepen their understanding of classical Islamic literature.The course aims to strengthen reading skills, comprehension, and appreciation of the moral, linguistic, and spiritual insights found in early Islamic texts. Students study specific Surahs from the Qur’an and a collection of Hadith passages that cover prayer, fasting, community life, and Islamic values. This Year-2 course builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Year 1.

Grammar & Composition (النحو والإنشاء) is a Year-2 core course designed to strengthen students’ mastery of Arabic grammar and develop their writing skills.The course builds directly on the foundations learned in Year 1 and introduces advanced grammatical structures, rules of syntax, and practical composition exercises. Learners will study topics from النحو الواضح (Parts 2 & 3), enabling them to construct accurate sentences, identify grammatical functions, and write simple functional compositions required for academic and real-life use.

This course introduces students to advanced prose passages, selected classical poems, and practical functional Arabic used in real-life situations.The course aims to develop language appreciation, strengthen comprehension, and enhance the student’s ability to read, understand, and use Arabic effectively. Using carefully chosen texts from Arabic literature and structured functional lessons from العربية بين يديك, learners gain improved literacy, deeper cultural understanding, and stronger communication skills.

English I is a foundational language course designed to strengthen students’ reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills at the higher-secondary equivalent level.Through selected prose lessons, structured grammar training, and guided composition practice, learners develop accuracy, fluency, and confidence in English for academic and everyday use. This course prepares students for further English studies and supports their learning across all subjects.

Part III Optional Subject | Afzal-ul-Ulama Preliminary Year 1 Programme Fiqh Literature I introduces learners to the fundamental principles of Islamic jurisprudence related to purification, prayer prerequisites, lawful and unlawful matters, and everyday religious practices.The course is based on classical fiqh texts and provides a simple, practical understanding suitable for beginners in Islamic law. Students learn essential rulings through short lessons, examples, and applied scenarios, enabling them to understand and practice the basic aspects of Islamic worship and daily life.

Part III Optional Subject | Afzal-ul-Ulama Programme This course provides an introduction to the early history of Islam and the foundations of Arabic literature, helping learners understand key historical events, personalities, and literary developments. Through selected stories and readings from classical sources, students gain insight into Islamic civilization and the evolution of Arabic literary heritage.

Part III Optional Subject | Afzal-ul-Ulama Programme This course introduces students to selected chapters from the Qur’an and essential Hadith literature, providing a foundational understanding of classical Arabic religious texts. Learners study thematic, linguistic, and moral dimensions of the Qur’anic chapters and Hadith selections while strengthening their reading and comprehension skills in classical Arabic.

Afzal-Ul-Ulama Preliminary (Year 1) Prose & Functional Arabic – Paper I is the foundational Arabic language course for students enrolled in the Afzal-Ul-Ulama Preliminary Programme, which is academically equivalent to the Higher Secondary level. This course introduces learners to selected Arabic prose pieces from classical and modern writers, while simultaneously developing essential functional Arabic skills for communication, daily life, and basic academic usage.Students engage with curated lessons from بين نصين الأدبي and العربية بين يديك, two highly respected Arabic instructional and literary resources. The course helps learners build a strong base in reading, comprehension, vocabulary, sentence structure, and functional communication—forming the essential groundwork for higher Arabic studies.

Afzal-ul-Ulama Preliminary – Year 1 | Part I Arabic Grammar & Morphology (النحو والصرف) is a foundational course designed to introduce learners to the essential rules of Arabic sentence structure, verb patterns, noun forms, and grammatical analysis.The course focuses on the basics of Arabic grammar through the celebrated textbook النحو الواضح, along with selected lessons from الميزان, enabling learners to understand the function of words, build correct sentences, and analyze grammatical constructions. This paper is core to the Afzal-ul-Ulama Preliminary Programme, equipping students with the linguistic tools required for advanced Arabic studies.
